On December 14, 2025, the School of Management and Engineering, Nanjing University held a unique Dean-Secretary Lunch Meeting for the freshmen of the 2025 Experimental Class of Industrial Intelligent System Integration. Yu Honghai, Dean of the School of Management and Engineering, Nanjing University, Chen Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Deng Zeyan and Wang Min from the Freshman College, Li Qian, Director of the Department of Complex Engineering Management, representatives of freshman tutors Tao Sha, Chen Guohua, Xu Wei, Head Teacher Liu Yan, representative of former head teachers Liang Ru, and Counselor Zhuang Bingqing attended the meeting, gathering with all freshmen of the experimental class to conduct in-depth dialogues in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere. This activity built a teacher-student communication platform in an innovative form, responded to freshmen's concerns, systematically explained the training philosophy, and condensed development consensus through equal and open discussions, guiding freshmen of the experimental class to clarify their learning direction and growth goals as soon as possible, and laying a solid ideological and practical foundation for them to better adapt to college study and life and clarify their growth goals.

Dean Yu Honghai systematically elaborated on the school's educational philosophy and talent training goals around the Five Ones framework, and took What kind of person do you hope to grow into in four years of college as the entry point, guiding freshmen to integrate their personal development into national needs and professional missions, and actively plan their growth paths. Combining with alumni growth cases, Dean Yu vividly interpreted the innovative value of the deep integration of engineering technology and system management thinking, and explained the educational philosophy and strategic positioning of the experimental class. He emphasized that the experimental class is an important layout of the school to serve the national new industrialization and intelligent transformation and digital transformation strategies, committed to cultivating compound leading talents who understand both technical implementation and possess system design and intelligent decision-making capabilities. He also introduced that the school will deepen collaboration with the School of Robotics and Automation of the Suzhou Campus, promote resource sharing, and provide higher-quality development platforms for students of the experimental class.

Deputy Secretary Chen Hui sent a message to the freshmen with three forces, hoping that the freshmen will be both down-to-earth doers and dream-chasing explorers, as well as loving companions, truly becoming new people with ideals, courage to take responsibility, ability to endure hardships, and willingness to strive, and contribute to building a powerful manufacturing nation with the integrated power of industrial intelligence.

In the free exchange session, students actively asked questions around academic challenges, professional cognition, and resource support, and the teachers and elders gave detailed and sincere answers and shared experiences.

This zero-distance and in-depth exchange resonated widely among freshmen. Many students said that the fundamental question raised by the dean prompted them to seriously think about their long-term personal plans, and the cross-border success stories of alumni made them truly see the unlimited possibilities contained in their professional backgrounds, which made them feel excited and responsible. A student wrote emotionally: This lunch meeting is like a light, which not only illuminates the way forward—letting me know how to learn and where to go in the future; but also warms the heart of exploration—letting me know that I am not alone, and the school is our solid backing.
