2025 Annual Inspection and Exchange Meeting of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Major Project "Basic Theory and Empirical Research on Technology Finance" Held at Nanjing University

On November 5, 2025, the 2025 Annual Inspection and Exchange Meeting of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Major Project Basic Theory and Empirical Research on Technology Finance was held at the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University. Liu Zuoyi, Deputy Director of the Department of Management Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chen Zhongfei, Deputy Director of the Third Division, Jiang Tian, Assistant President of Nanjing University and Executive Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Nanjing University Suzhou Campus, as well as more than 60 academic advisors and main members of each research group attended the meeting. The opening ceremony was hosted by Chen Zhongfei, Deputy Director of the Third Division of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

On behalf of Nanjing University, Assistant President Jiang Tian welcomed all experts and the major project team to this annual inspection and exchange meeting. He detailed the remarkable achievements of Nanjing University in optimizing discipline layout and enhancing scientific research and innovation capabilities, stating that Nanjing University will take this annual inspection and exchange meeting as an opportunity to work together with experts for collaborative innovation, and contribute to the optimization of China's technology finance ecosystem and the construction of a science and technology power. It is hoped that experts and scholars attending the meeting will share research results through this platform and provide solid theoretical support for building a modern technology finance system.

In his speech, Deputy Director Liu Zuoyi pointed out that financial support for technological innovation is a key feature of the contemporary economy. Major projects should deeply understand the scenario needs of technology finance, promote the integration of industry, university, and research, and their research results should not only achieve theoretical breakthroughs but also be transformed into effective policies to support the construction of a financial power and a science and technology power. At the same time, he introduced the latest reform measures of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He suggested that experts help promote the high-level development of the finance discipline.

 

 

The project report session was hosted by Professor Tian Xuan from Tsinghua University and Researcher Mo Wangui from the Institute of Finance of the People's Bank of China, members of the academic advisory group. Each research group comprehensively and systematically elaborated on the main research progress and findings, published academic research results, problems and difficulties encountered in the research, the use of project funds, and the research plan for the next stage. The academic advisory group closely focused on the research content of the project, providing key guidance on the calibration of research directions, the resolution of key bottlenecks, and the realization of social value, clarifying ideas and planning paths for the high-quality implementation of the project in the future.

 

 

 

During the on-site research session, all participants went to the Suzhou Biomedical Industrial Park for research and discussion. Dr. Chen Bingliang, Chief Scientist of Innovent Biologics, systematically introduced the company's progress and achievements in innovative drug R&D, product promotion, and financial and policy support. Representatives from multiple financial institutions, enterprises, and relevant government departments reported and exchanged on the distinctive advantages and practical experience of Suzhou in supporting biomedical technological innovation through finance, and unanimously expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation with the project team, hoping to jointly explore and refine the Suzhou Model of Technology Finance with demonstration significance.

The meeting was hosted by the Department of Management Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and organized by Nanjing University.
