From October 31 to November 2, 2025, the 2025 Academic Annual Conference of Jiangsu Operations Research Society was held at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. At this conference, Professor Shen Houcai from our school was awarded the first Operations Research Award of Jiangsu Operations Research Society for his research work in the field of operations and supply chain management.

The award citation highly praised Professor Shen's academic achievements: Professor Shen Houcai has made a series of important research achievements in the field of operations and supply chain management. As one of the pioneers of supply chain management research in China, the stochastic dynamic optimization model he constructed has profoundly revealed the collaborative mechanism of supply chain inventory replenishment and allocation for various types of customers, providing a key theoretical foundation for academic circles and enterprise practice.

Professor Shen Houcai is one of the outstanding scholars in the field of operations and supply chain management research in China, especially having made important achievements in inventory management and the design of innovative models for manufacturing and service operations. His research is characterized by problem orientation and model-driven approaches, closely integrating with Chinese contexts, and possessing both theoretical depth and practical value. Professor Shen served as an associate professor at the School of Economics and Management of Southeast University from 1998 to 2001, an associate professor at the School of Management and Engineering, Nanjing University from 2001 to 2005, and has been a professor at the School of Management and Engineering, Nanjing University since 2005. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Operations Research Society, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Management Science and Engineering Discipline Alliance, and Member of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Computational Economics Interdisciplinary Science of the Ministry of Education, and also serves as the Field Editor of Industrial Engineering.

Professor Shen has also achieved fruitful results in scientific research and teaching work, having previously received many honors, including the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Supervisor of Jiangsu Province in 2011, the Innovative Education Award of Nanjing University in 2016, and the Second Prize of Jiangsu Teaching Achievement Award (Higher Education Category) in 2017.

Winning the first Operations Research Award of Jiangsu Operations Research Society once again demonstrates the academic community's high recognition of Professor Shen Houcai's outstanding contributions in the field of operations research and supply chain management.
